Totally enclosed fan-cooled (TEFC) induction motors fed by frequency converters in applications with constant torque loads run hotter and burn out faster - particularly at slower speeds where fans are less efficiant. |
But now, WEG has developed a way to make motors last longer called OptimalFlux™ technology. Combining a WEG Variable Frequency Drice (VFD) with a Standard WEG Motor, OptimalFlux enables investor class performance without the threat of thermal damage at lower speeds. It achieves this by implementing a flux vs. frequency relationship within WEG variable frequency converters that optimzes the variable speed driving of constant torque loads. As a result, torque reduction, motor over-sizing and/or independent ventilation to keep temperatures at lower speeds within insulation thermal class limits are no longer needed. |
| Lasting twice as long as other TEFC VFD configuration, OptimalFlux motors cut replacement costs in half. Lower maintenance requirements can also conserve energy. Plux, the WEG 21 NEMA Premium and CFW 09 drive package comes with twice the industry warranty. |
